The most recent memory of a wedding that happened on a magnificent scale is, undoubtedly, of lovebirds Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover. Meant to be every-bit a fairy tale wedding, the whole event, including wedding invites and pre-nup photo-shoots, was simply spectacular. Bipasha not only made Karan dance to her tunes, but she also wooed her fans. Being a Bengali bride, she looked simply mesmerizing in her red wedding lehenga choli, beautifully complimented by red choora and a studded crown in white (Mukut). All through her gala ceremonies, this tall and dusky beauty surely managed to take our hearts away – be it a floral choli in baby pink, her red wedding lehenga or a glamorous indo-western choli with sindoor on her forehead. Truly a bride to watch out! And, perfect inspiration for the soon-bride-to-be’s!

Celebs too were dazzling in their pricey gorgeous attires, during this celeb marriage –

Aishwarya Rai looked gorgeous in her indo-western outfit. The lovely combination of black embroidered long top and cream velvety ghagra, she sported, was truly to-die-for.

Style Notes – This deadly fusion, sported by Aishwarya, is truly worth trying. Flaunt it on your friend’s reception, and get ready to grab hoards of compliments.

Star Tip: If you are worried about heavy velvet gathering a lot of dirt, grime or sweat (in this hot weather) – replace it with lighter, gauzier net. The fluffy net ghagra, besides being easy on pocket, shall also give your outfit a dreamy look.

With stylish blouses creating a buzz these days, unconventional beauty, Tabu chose to keep her saree simple yet elegant. While her shaded saree was given a classy look by a minimal scattering of sequins, her full-sleeved blouse with peacock motifs in gold and white, spread all over, must have grabbed her ample compliments.

Style Notes – Backless blouse and deep neck-lines are high in demand, these days. Pair a sequined blouse with a plain saree in pastel or dark, jewel colors. Increase the glamour quotient by painting your nails in a bright color. Nothing better than a ravishing red, though!

The newly-wedded bride, Preity Zinta looked ‘good-enough’ in her pastel pink-peach saree on Bips’ reception. Letting her red chura grab all the attention, she too chose to keep her style minimalistic and simple. Her pairing of heavy earrings and ethnic jewelry, perfectly complimented her pretty looks and peaches and cream complexion.

Style Notes – Mrs. Goodenough proved to be a perfect muse for ‘newly wedded brides’. Want to stay away from heavy silk sarees? Fill up your wardrobe with georgette, chiffon sarees in softer shades. Pair them with colorful high-heels and small bindis. There you are, beautiful lady, all set for an event!

One more couple adding their name to the list of chic celebrity weddings is the lovely pair of the South Indian beauty, Asin and Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma. Star celebs were invited in smaller number to this gala. Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Jacqueline Fernandes were among the few celebs invited. Asin cherry-picked a beige color lehenga choli for her night wedding. Although simple and low on ostentation, Asin looked draped in royalty every bit in this ensemble. Her simplicity was impressively reflected in her elegant and sophisticated attire. Brilliant choice Asin! She wore a pink Kanjeevaram Saree for one of the ceremonies, and again caught eyeballs for her understated charm!

Style Notes – Girls out there can surely dress up like pretty Asin. Let your outfit compliment your personality, rather than overshadow it. Add a twist to your look by wearing volumanising mascara and a glossy lipstick.

Jacqueline Fernandes was a pleasant surprise for everyone on this low-key, graceful wedding. Jacky managed to carry an Indian look with great ease and grace, of course adding her own style a bit. Her white, plain lehenga choli with gold border (the stunning Kasavu combination) and a gold blouse with cut-work border was absolutely traditional – and a perfect ode to Asin’s Keralite roots. Her muted yet striking Kerala Pattu colours were dominant enough to overshadow any glittery silk saree or designer outfit. The gold and silver box clutch, she carried, was a smart choice too.

Beauty with brains, Sushmita Sen appears to follow contemporary styles. Keeping the jewelry marginal, she flaunted her modish backless blouse with a front, deep neckline – for Asin’s wedding. While long tassels at the back were fashionable enough to attract people’s attention, her kalidar lehenga was a pretty sight, when paired with a heavily embroidered net dupatta.’
