A flamboyant Indian wedding, closely held at Lake Como in Italy was strictly media-forbidden- leading to high level of excitement and curiosity among fans. But the pictures recently shared by the newly married couple have totally been worth the wait and just like the rest of the nation we too have been intrigued by the fabulous wedding pictures of Ranveer and Deepika.

Traditional Indulgence

Contemporary theme based parties and attire are a rage with a lot of big fat Indian weddings happening these days. Contrasting this trend, Ranveer and Deepika strictly stuck to Indian traditions, with every detail and even their wedding wardrobe being designed completely on the lines of ethnicity. Deepika being a staunch patron of Indian celebrity designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, every outfit of her bridal wardrobe was designed by him. Ranveer’s wedding looks too were customized from the same label. Each of their silhouettes- the bride’s wedding silk saree, the groom’s kurta set and the other pre and post wedding looks- the garments were highly confined to the norms and legacy of traditional Indian weddings.

The aesthetics of handloom weaves

The dual wedding ceremony of DeepVeer included a South Indian style wed-lock ritual where Deepika was beautifully clad in a maroon and golden Kanchipuram handloom silk saree accessorized with heavy filigree and stone ornaments. The groom took wedding vows in a cream kurta paired with a Kasavu dhoti.

The post-wedding arrival of the couple too was an aesthetically appealing sight- with Deepika wearing a plain cream salwar suit with a heavy and ostentatious Banarasi silk brocade dupatta while Ranveer was his vibrant self in a cream kurta set layered with an elephant form detailed brocade jacket. Truly artistic and well-coordinated!

The trend of Bride and Groom coordinated outfits

The trend of the bride and groom matching their outfit colours and details – not just for the main ceremony but also for other pre-wedding functions – is not new, but DeepVeer played the coordination game truly to the hilt. For the North Indian style held wedding ceremony, their outfits were designed in the palettes of pink and red. While Ranveer look dapper in a reddish-pink sherwani suit, Deepika turned up as the perfect Indian doll in a traditional red and pink lehenga choli ensemble- completed with a heavy chamki lace-edged dupatta and a regal assortment of jewellery. If you noticed – Deepika’s Sindhi Bridal Outfit doesn’t appear heavily embroidered – a nice break away from the usual bridal looks.

Padukone’s and cool and quirky Bhavnani groom’s coordinated wardrobe was carried over, even after their much-talked yet saved from the public gaze wedding held in Italy. The Mumbai airport buzzed with excitement as the newly married couple first arrived from Italy, and a day later took off for Bangalore for their formal wedding reception, again posing for shutterbugs in dreamy colour-coordinated outfits. On the day they left for Bengaluru, Deepika was an ethereal sight in a plain creamy white Lucknowi Anarkali suit, styled with an exquisite dupatta and heavy danglers! She seems to have fallen in love with the neutral creams – or is it her designer and his team at Sabyasachi Official. Whatever the case – we are not complaining – as we can’t get over the all cream Plain Suit she wore, paired with an opulent Banarasi dupatta, on her arrival – right after the wedding.

Roses, Neutrals and Earthy hues – fuelled by Golden dazzle!

For an occasion so pious and hearts deeply in love, the entire wedding event had splashes of auspicious colours and the dazzling glory of metallic gold. Reds, peaches, pinks, tangerine, rust – the fiery palette – offset by neutral and earthy bases of white, cream and beige – in many outfits.

Gold – as expected – ruled the metallic sheen palette – with Deepika donning an all gold saree – gifted by her mum for her first reception ceremony in Bengaluru.

Deepika’s baby pink and golden ensemble with double dupatta – is one of the prettiest outfits that an Indian bride can wear for her mehendi ceremony. The ensemble was heavily accessorized with multiple necklaces and other chunky jewellery pieces. We always adore Deepika for her fashion sense and absolutely loved all of her wedding looks, but for a mehendi function so much jewellery is certainly not easy to handle with hennaed palms and feet. For Deepika – a style diva used to dance elegantly even in 30 kilogram lehengas – we are sure, it was not a big task.

But for mere mortals like us – well, we would suggest keeping things simpler and more modest for a comfy yet graceful mehendi look – a la Anushka Sharma. The Bollywood bride of 2017 – Sharma kept her Mehendi look very girly and light – in a floral crop tope style choli – paired with a no embellishment light weight lehenga skirt. A simple yet cute Indo Western apparel! However, this doesn’t- in any way – divert us from the ethereal look Deepika portrayed for her divine mehendi – looking absolutely at ease – at Lake Como. DeepVeer looked heartbreakingly gorgeous in their perfectly coordinated outfits.

At the same function, Ranveer was a delightful sight in a beige and earthy maroon coloured Bajirao Mastani inspired flared garment detailed with traditional block prints and Nehru jacket.

Relatively Toned Down for the Reception

Over with their much-guarded designer wedding, Bollywood’s mesmerizing couple looked every inch smitten by each other – as they sashayed down a flight of stairs at their Bengaluru reception venue. It was obvious that both had chosen to be a somewhat modest and relaxed in their appearance – especially Deepika as she took a break from her designer threads – and chose a bewitching all golden Kanjivaram saree, befittingly gifted by her mum.

Picturesque memories for a lifetime

The luxurious DeepVeer wedding is a classic depiction of traditions and the deep-rootedness of the Indian culture. The picture-perfect event will definitely be talked about for the coming weeks and maybe months for its opulence and glamour quotient and of course, for the pure happiness twinkling in the eyes of these two beautiful lovebirds!
