How To Look Slim And Graceful In An Indian Suit?

Blog-main-banner How to look slim in An indian suit

Hey lady, you look gorgeous just the way you are! Whether you’re curvy, skinny or slim, just love your imperfections, for they make you unique. Each time you get ready in an Indian salwar suit or a trendy pair of denims and Tee, look into the mirror and appreciate yourself – the twinkle in your eyes can brighten someone’s day, that smile can take someone’s woes away.

Beauty is just a perception and while you may have a figure, which may be far different from the shallow description of a ‘perfect figure’, you have a powerful mind and a lovable heart, which can thwart away each body shaming statement put forth before you!

Indian-wear for curvy figures

Indian wear is designed such that it suits all kinds of body shapes and structures. It enhances a woman’s curves in the best way, while camouflaging troubling areas effectively. Be it an Indian saree or a salwar suit, ethnic outfits and Indian dresses are meant for all women of all ages, lifestyles, shapes and sizes. So gorgeous lady, shun all that embarrassment and be your true self, do not worry about hiding any unattractive spots, rather make yourself appear more charming and beautiful with the right Indian suit silhouettes!

Look slim or look real?

It is imperative that you feel good about yourself the way you are, but that does not mean that you go all out and highlight your imperfections – or wear inelegant, unflattering stuff. It’s always wise to choose the right fabrics, design elements and details, like apt necklines and sleeves that will keep your fashion game strong, even against women with a well-toned body!

Salwar Suits for different body shapes

Are you an apple-shaped or pear-shaped person or do you fall under the zone of an hour-glass figure? These terms are used to describe the common body structures. But, it may not always work for everyone. You may fall into one of these categories or just have some spot flab. While body shapers, or shape-wear will help you to some extent, choosing the right garments are the best thing to do! For each of these figure types and problem spots, there are amazing variations available in ethnic and fusion salwar suits, which can make your figure appear more graceful!

Heavy Bust

If your upper body is heavy then you should prefer a silhouette, which isn’t very body hugging. Something that doesn’t define your shoulders a lot is a good idea. Avoid Angarakha designs or even empire line cut Anarkalis. A straight cut with a deep neckline or even elegant kurta pattis are a nice for everyday wear. For special occasions, trendy poncho suit can work wonders for your look. Also a jacket layer added to your kurta will help you appear more attractive.
Choose outfits, which have prints and embroidery on the lower side of the garment, while the top portion should be left plain. Closed necklines and cold shoulder sleeves will also work well for a heavy bust figure.
Avoid: Busy prints, too tight bodices and ruffled details on the top.

Pear-shaped figure

You don’t look bad with a heavy hip line; even international celebrities like Beyonce have that sort of figure! Long kurta sets like Anarkali suits and graceful floor-length suits would make a stylish party-wear garment for women who are heavier on the lower side. For causal outings, instead of wearing straight cut suits you should opt for A-line or flared kurtas, which visibly tone down your hip curves. Flared Anarkalis and lehenga suits are also smart options.
A traditional Punjabi suit, Patiala suit and flared palazzo are smart options to hide that excess flab on your legs. These traditional suits are even trending in Bollywood these days!
Avoid: Short and tightly-fitted kurtas and trouser suits.

Flabby arms

So you’ve forgotten to hit the gym since like a few years, and got those heavy and flabby arms? And, you have to attend a wedding next week, where you wish to look chic and elegant! Pull out a suit that has long and flared or bell sleeves. Don’t worry; these details won’t make you look less glamorous, for modesty is the new trend! That means you can trade-off your sleeveless and halter tops for a flared sleeved or a bat sleeved kurta and look even better!

On a regular basis, avoid very short sleeves, like cap sleeves, specifically the ones that are too tight. Puffed sleeves are also not a good idea. Instead pick ones that end at your elbow level, or the three quarters that work the best for almost all shapes.

The Tummy Trouble!

We all want a flat stomach, don’t we? Those who have it are indeed lucky, but for the ones who don’t (including me), there are plenty of ways to conceal that flab. A slightly over-sized kurta, which stays loose on your waistline can conceal your abdominal flab. For special occasions, pick a long flared suit like an Anarkali, which is divided into two sections such that the upper section ends at your ribs, while your abdomen comes under the flared section. This way your flab will be completely hidden. Long, umbrella cut Anarkalis or frock style suits are great too – and so are ones with long, defining panels. If you’re still conscious of your belly, there is plenty of shape-wear available in the market!
Avoid: Ethnic belts and front tie-up patterns.

Fabrics that have a slimming effect

Just as you must pick the right details, choosing the right fabrics is equally important. Instead of ballooning up yourself with a tissue layered Abaya suit or similar stiff or thick fabrics, you should, in general, opt for fabrics that are soft, smooth and flowing. Such fabrics tend to cling to the body in a flattering way, and therefore, have a slimming effect. Also, avoid wearing too light or transparent fabrics, as they may seem unsightly, if you have flabby trouble spots.

Pure and faux-georgette, chiffon, tussar silk, crepe fabrics, soft net, satin silk, cotton silk and chiffon are some materials, which will magically make you look slimmer!

It’s all about feeling good

The whole idea about sharing this post with you all was to boost your confidence and make you feel good about yourself. Just like these slimming hacks for salwar suits, there are hacks for everything which is there on the outside but there something within you which holds higher significance- a heart that will always love you for celebrating your unique existence!
