Soul-mates are meant to be together- crossing all time and distance barriers. International celebrities Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas recently tied the knot at a big fat wedding held in Udaipur, India. Blending two vastly diverse cultures and breaking the norms of the society that dictates a woman to be younger than her man, NickYanka stood strong and began their new life with complete dignity. Shadowing all social media trolls, these days internet is abuzz with the flood of pictures and videos from the flamboyant wedding. The opulent set-up of the venue, mesmerizing fireworks, delightful vibes radiated by the two families and of course, Priyanka’s gorgeous wedding outfits- it’s all so impressive! While we absolutely appreciate the other details of the wedding, we would love to focus on what we love doing the most; a style check and fashion decode of PeeCee’s wedding wardrobe.

As the couple took off for Udaipur, Priyanka’s effervescent attire which comprised of a white salwar suit complemented with a multi-coloured dupatta indicated that the bridal wardrobe show had just begun and indeed- we’re all eyes to PeeCee’s wedding looks! So here’s what we have to say about each of them-

Fiery and Fabulous

For the mehendi function, a yellow lehenga choli is undoubtedly a favourite of most of the Indian brides. Priyanka’s mehendi lehenga too had a base tone of bright yellow but it was the colorful details that stole our attention. Horizontally placed plain, wavy and floral patterns with a colour-play of orange, green, blue and pink- the fiery twirl of her yellow lehenga was indeed breathtakingly beautiful. A coordinated blouse and dupatta accentuated the spirited look and with just the right amount of traditional jewellery and hair decoration; our desi girl indeed looked like a perfect desi doll!

Reveling in Elegance

Glamour at its most luminescent! @priyankachopra is an absolute stunner in our fully hand embroidered sequins sari in gold and silver. @nickjonas is princely in an open midnight blue sherwani with silk thread detailing. Royal Sangeet at the lawns of Umaid Bhavan.
Millions of fairy lights and mirror installations lit up the Umaid Bhavan grounds to create an enchanted wonderland. It was as if the sky and earth danced as one to celebrate this union. One of the most happening functions of the weddings was the Sangeet which was a well-organized music and dance competition between the Chopra and Jonas families. The stage rocked with Bollywood performances by PeeCeee’s relatives and friends, including her cousin Parineet Chopra while the Jonas family left no stone unturned to win the bride’s heart! Amidst the vibrantly decked up crowd, Priyanka was a soothing sight- clad in an elegant cream saree embellished with subtle-toned embroidery. Paired with a sizzling noodle-strapped designer blouse and a dazzling diamond set, she was the prettiest glam doll amongst all! Overall a slightly underplayed wardrobe for such a happening event, but with her wedding looks that followed it seems her Sangeet attire was created with the purpose of being ‘silent before the bang’.

Resplendent in Red

Once again following Indian traditions to the core, PeeCee’s wedding lehenga was auspiciously red- but yes with an elegant twist! Her wed-lock attire was simple and indulgently detailed with intricate sequined rose flowers that almost merged with the tone of the fabric. Taking Indian bridal attire closer to elegance, her red lehenga was devoid of heavy zardozi and chunky stone bling. Balancing traditions and trends – such outfits can work as a breather for modern and glam brides.

However, while her flattering red wedding lehenga was simplistic, Priyanka’s indulgence in regal kundan jewellery was the highlight- captivating enough to complement Nick’s golden sherwani set!

The opulent NickYanka wedding is a classic example of cultural diffusion. So much as Indian traditions and rituals were followed; the couple also took vows as per the Christian religion. Priyanka walked the aisle in a custom-made Ralph Lauren white wedding gown, with an extended veil, making the wedding appear like a scene right out of a beautiful dream. A look that brides would love to emulate!

At @falgunishanepeacockindia we love being part of fairy tale stories , Global icon @priyankachopra looked like an enchanting new bride in #bespoke #FalguniShanePeacock bridal couture at her reception in Delhi. The frosted nude lehenga was cascaded with unnumbered #Swarovski crystals which were delectably pelted by artisans who handcrafted this majestic ensemble. The radiating bride looked exquisite in our signature attire that was ornamented with traditional motifs layered in a myriad of beads depicting a cultural folklore. A sea of dazzling stars- yes that’s exactly how Priyanka’s reception lehenga looked like! A heavy mirror work net lehenga choli with a soft tone of golden beige- her outfit had a rich heritage feel with a fairytale touch. The lehenga had been neatly ornamented with silver zardozi work and stones creating beautiful flower and birds forms- precisely reflecting Indian ethnicity. A heavily embroidered net dupatta added a final dreamy touch to the ensemble. Just like for her other functions, Mrs. Jonas had balanced her accessories well with this attire too.

Runway Swag

PeeCee looked every bit of a newly wedded Bharatiya naari as Nickyanka made their first public appearance as a married couple. Her airport look- a simple teal green georgette sari detailed with basic flower vine zari embroidery- a typical homecoming look for an Indian bride! Adding to her bridal avatar were those dozens of red and white bangles and a few pieces of silver jewellery but well, it was those black and white cat-eye sunnies that changed the whole style-game, adding swag to her entire look. Now that’s what we call a grand runway entry!

The luxurious NickYanka wedding event may have been wrapped up, but the one-of-its-first wedding in Bollywood will surely be talked about for months ahead. Having gone global, Priyanka has validated that the fact that Indians have their roots strong and the traditional Indian bridal wardrobe is a legacy that is and will always be followed by Indian women worldwide!
