Bagh Print Sarees
Bagh printing is a geographically tagged art of traditional block printing which is confined to the Bagh village of Madhya Pradesh. The art initially belonged to Sindh (Pakistan) which was then brought to India by the migrating Muslim Khatri community. It involves use of wooden blocks having intricate floral and geometrical figures, patterns inspired by landscapes and jaali work resembling the detailing on the Taj Mahal. Vegetable and natural dyes are used on the blocks to make motifs and repetitive patterns over ethnic outfits like sarees and salwar suits. The printing process is very lengthy and involves many stages of washing, boiling and sun-drying the fabric.

Still, it’s always wise to get it dry cleaned for the first wash. Post that, you can hand-wash or machine-wash the sari at home with a mild detergent.Read Less
